Number 15 in list of Strange Incidents

[This is an item that my grandfather Jesse Hibbard wrote (and typed) in 1970. My (Al) role was to first transcribe it, next to add corrections or clarifications [within brackets], and then to add links to people connected to me (that gives more information), links to give more information about places, and for those mentioned but not connected, I sometimes added links to FamilySearch.org.]

Strange Incidents, and little tales - J.E.H

15. First time I ever camped out was the night of Sept. 22, 1911. [age 18] Slept in a washout at end of eighty on Meadowvale farm. Gathered a supply of wood and kept a fire all night. It was pretty cold. I made a nest of grass and leaves in which to sleep. Had some bread and a can of beans to eat and the stars above for companions. It was so cold that I had to get up and huddle over the fire occasionally and also put some wood on the fire. I was reminded of a quotation from a story I once read: "Breathes there a man who has ever loved and does not remember that love when looks into the campfire?" Anyhow, I saw many forgotten faces among the glowing coals - in fact I always do when I am alone in the woods and cooking something to eat over a fire - or in a fire as the case may be.
