Kristin Hannah wrote The Four Winds in 2021. It captures how the Great Depression, drought, and dust storms impacted one family in the Texas panhandle. It is a story of determination, unbending love, challenges, and hardship. The mother takes her two children to California to prevent her son from further dust storm damage to his lungs. Their hopes are dashed when they arrive, and it goes downhill. But resolve rises, and they carry forward.
I couldn't read this book for a sitting and keep my eyes dry. It is challenging, but well worth it. There are many lessons for any reader to learn from this book. More from goodreads and Amazon.
