Utah trip - day 1 - May 4, 2022 (W)

The night before, Norm suggested waking up at 3 a.m., so I set my phone alarm and my clock's alarm. They worked. I woke up Norm and we worked on the last steps to leave. We were on the road shortly after 3:15. It was quiet driving through Des Moines and it was still darkish as we got to Omaha. We stopped for gas at 9:15 in Cozad, NE (more than half-way across NE). We stopped again for gas in the NE part of Denver. About an hour later (1:15 p.m.) as we were climbing in altitude, it started to snow. We could also see other snow on the ground and more so higher up in elevations. The mountain peaks looked nice draped in snow.

Next, we stopped in Fruita, CO. We were looking for water, food, and gas. We found a good water supply at a CO Welcome Center, but we intended to buy more at a grocery store. After getting gas at an Exxon and supper at Wendys, we both forgot about buying more water. We continued on our way into UT and then left I-70 about 10 miles after Green River, going south on Utah 24 toward Temple Mountain.

We arrived about 7:15 at our campsite area within the BLM campground region and after looking around, we found a suitable place to set up our tents.

It was a bit windy and Norm set his tent up by his truck and I did by the shelter. We looked at the map (below) of the route for the morning that we will take starting from this campground and looping back here the second day.
