The story about the hamster and the bear involved a family trip that omitted two members of the family: Keith, the oldest, had just graduated from high school and (apparently) had other plans, and Bruce, the youngest, was (apparently) deemed to be too young to travel with us. There was also not a lot of room in the vehicle. I need to check on it, but Bruce must have stayed with the grandparents on our mother's side. [Bruce doesn't recall.] I know the next year there was another family trip in which he didn't/couldn't come, and I am certain that he stayed with our grandfather on our father's side (and next door neighbor).
This trip started in St. Cloud, went through Nebraska (I remember going through the Corn Palace in Mitchell), then to Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Little Bighorn Battlefield, and then home. At least that is my memory, but I was only 9.
Note that the photos shown in the blog were taken by my father, though the photo of the car was not taken from that trip, but it is the same vehicle. If you are interested in a higher quality of any of these photos, contact me.
